College-town character, century-old homes, and new-build craftsmanship — we work on all of it. Roofing for every corner of 28036.
Davidson isn't like the other Lake Norman towns. Founded in 1837 around Davidson College, it has a character that the newer subdivisions next door will never replicate — tree-lined streets with 100+ year-old homes, a preservation-minded downtown, walkable college village, and tight-knit neighborhoods where the roof on your house matters to the aesthetic of the whole block. That's a different standard than slapping architectural asphalt on a 2018 spec home. When we work in Davidson, we work to match that standard — historically appropriate materials when they're called for, clean detail work, and respect for the HDC (Historic Design Commission) rules when they apply.
Davidson is a town of two eras: the historic core and the post-1995 growth ring around it. Both need totally different roofing conversations. The neighborhoods we work in most:
Davidson catches the same storm tracks as Huntersville and Cornelius — spring hail, summer pop-ups, tropical system remnants — but with one twist: the town has more mature tree canopy than almost any neighboring town. That's great for aesthetics but hard on roofs. Limb strikes, acorn and sweetgum-ball impact damage, heavy leaf buildup in valleys, and overhung branches that scour granules off shingles are the most common calls we get in 28036. Historic downtown homes also deal with older flashing details, aged chimney crowns, and original fascia boards that wick moisture.
Own a home in Historic Davidson? Wood fascia, masonry chimneys, and steep-pitch slate-look roofs need more frequent inspection than modern builds. Book a free inspection with written report.
Davidson is small enough that reputation is everything. Homeowners here compare notes — at Summit Coffee, at the Farmer's Market, at Davidson College alumni events. We've earned Davidson referrals the slow way, one roof at a time, by doing the kind of clean, careful, historically-respectful work that doesn't embarrass anybody. If you want the cheapest quote, we're probably not it. If you want the roof your neighbors will tell you to hire us again for — we'd love to meet you.
Yes. We respect the architectural character of Historic Davidson — proper flashing, preservation of wood detail, and historically-appropriate shingle profiles. We can also assist with Davidson HDC submissions when required.
Probably. Under heavy canopy we typically spec 6" oversized gutters with micro-mesh leaf guards to handle the Davidson debris load.
Yes. Synthetic slate, composite cedar, and premium architectural asphalt in slate and wood-tone colors are all options we specify regularly in Davidson.
Usually yes, under the wind/storm portion of a homeowners policy if the limb came down in a storm. We'll document it and help file — see our storm damage page.
